Efficient yard and dock management is critical for high-performing warehouses. Oracle WMS Cloud provides a robust framework for managing the Gate to Dock process, streamlining inbound & outbound logistics, improving visibility, and reducing turnaround times.
Gate operations process is part of Gate to Dock processes covering all activities related to managing the vehicles reported at the warehouse gate for pick up & delivery, capturing the information, verifying / validating the documents and managing gate in & gate out information.
Gate operations consist of two sub processes:
- Once the vehicle reported at the gate, collect the information such as truck or trailer number, driver details, seal number etc.
- Verify the documents such as PO / ASN / BoL / Appointment. In case of any discrepancy report to the receiving supervisor for gate in approval.
- In case the vehicle is not allowed, notify the party and return the truck.
- Match the trailer with relevant PO/ASN /Load.
- Update the IB shipment / Load with truck / trailer information, driver information, seal no & reporting time.
- Create an appointment if required.
- Print the appointment slip and hand it over to driver.
- Guide the truck to yard.
- Once the loading / unloading is completed, vehicle reports at the gate for gate out process.
- Verify the documents and update the IB shipment or Load with exit time.
- Truck departs from warehouse.

- Truck / trailer turnaround time

- Dock appointment scheduled for today - Dock management dashboard.
- Inbound traffic (inbound shipments) scheduled for today.
